Edmonton police charge 2 drivers in multi-vehicle hit-and-run

Edmonton police (EPS) have charged two of the drivers involved in a multi-vehicle hit-and-run last month.

EPS charged a 74-year-old man who was driving the Dodge truck, that allegedly caused the multi-vehicle collision, with failing to remain at the scene of the collision under the Traffic Safety Act and for failing to stop at a stop sign.

The driver of the Honda CRV, a 16-year-old boy, was charged with careless driving and driving without a seatbelt. Speed on the part of Honda was factor in the collision, EPS said in a statement.

EPS says officers responded to reports of a multi-vehicle collision at 132 Avenue and 86 Street around 9:10 a.m. on Dec. 16.

Reports indicate that a Dodge truck was driving north on 86 Street when it crossed onto 132 Avenue without stopping and hit a Honda CR-V that was traveling east. As a result of the impact, the Honda then hit a Nissan Rogue that was driving west.

Police note that two other parked vehicles were also hit.

Three of the four youth occupants of the Honda were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries and two with minor injuries. The occupants of the Nissan, an adult female and one youth, were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
