Edmonton police say a third man has been taken into custody in connection with a series of carjackings in December.
EPS says around 8 p.m. on Dec. 15, officers responded to the area of 51 Avenue and 201 Street after receiving a report of an attempted carjacking.
Reports indicate that a 49-year-old man was in front of his residence when he was approached by two men. One of the men allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded the keys to the man’s vehicle. The 49-year-old reportedly complied, and the two men tried to flee, but shortly abandoned the car due to poor road conditions.
Around 11:30 p.m. on the same day, police responded to another attempted carjacking near 174 Street and 57 Avenue.
On Jan. 9, EPS said two men had been taken into custody and that a third was still wanted. That man — 18-year-old Jashi Williams — was taken into custody on Jan. 12, and was charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a weapon, and firearm-related offences.
