32nd fatal collision in Edmonton makes 2025 deadliest in recent years

A 32-year-old woman’s death in west Edmonton on Monday night was the 32nd fatal collision in the city in 2025.

It’s the most traffic collision fatalities in Alberta’s capital for at least the last 17 years, according to data provided to CityNews by the Edmonton Police Service.

The police figures, which go back to 2008, show there were 31 fatal collisions in 2009 and 2015.

The 32 fatalities so far this year continues an increasing trend from 2022, when 12 people died on Edmonton’s roads. That doubled to 24 in 2023, and rose again to 26 in 2024.
