Man charged with murder, attempted murder in northeast Edmonton stabbing

Police say a man has been charged after the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old Jeremy Poon at a northeast Edmonton home on Saturday.

The Edmonton Police Service says a 53-year-old woman sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

Authorities say the accused and victims knew each other.

Officers were called to 160A Avenue and 83 Street for a weapons complaint around 8:40 p.m. They arrived to find the 22-year-old man dead, and the woman injured.

A 25-year-old suspect was arrested.

An autopsy Monday determined Jeremy Poon died of multiple stab wounds and the manner of death was homicide.

Wesley Poon was charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder and arson endangering life. The allegations have not been tested in court.
