Authorities now believe a third vehicle was involved in the collision that killed a 21-year-old man south of Edmonton on Tuesday morning.
Leduc RCMP initially said the man from Redwater, driving an Audi, made a left turn across the path of pickup truck on Township Road 502 east of 9 Street, near Nisku, shortly before 6:30 a.m.
Now Mounties are saying “additional evidence” indicates a third vehicle, an SUV, “struck and pushed the Audi that was making a left hand turn at the time.”
The 21-year-old driver was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police say charges have yet to be laid. The investigation continues.
Mounties remained on scene for several hours Tuesday investigating while Leduc County vehicles blocked off the road to traffic. The collision was cleared and normal traffic flow resumed around 2:30 p.m.
