21-year-old man killed in collision south of Edmonton

Police say a 21-year-old man from Redwater was killed in a collision involving two vehicles south of Edmonton on Tuesday morning.

Leduc RCMP believe the man, who was driving a sedan, made a left turn across the path of pickup truck – though authorities warn it’s early in the investigation. He was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

It happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Township Road 502 (Airport Road) east of 9 Street, near Nisku.

Mounties remained on scene for several hours investigating while Leduc County vehicles blocked off the road to traffic.

The collision was cleared and normal traffic flow resumed around 2:30 p.m.
