RCMP in Leduc have charged four people following an investigation into child pornography and sexual offences against children.
Police say the General Investigations Section began probing allegations earlier this year, leading to the Aug. 20 arrest of 27-year-old Leduc County resident Maxance Valade. He is charged with production of child pornography along with seven additional child-sex offences.
Valade remains in custody.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Valade’s Leduc property, seizing electronic devices.
RCMP say a forensic review, assisted by ALERT’s Integrated Child Exploitation Unit, identified additional victims and suspects, expanding the investigation.
On Oct. 8, officers searched a home in Edmonton and arrested 34-year-old Sydney Burns. She is charged with producing child pornography and seven other sexual offences involving children. Burns was also remanded in custody.
A week later, on Oct. 16, police arrested 24-year-old Edmonton resident Fannie Mae Salvador. She faces charges of transmitting child pornography and three additional child-sex offences. Salvador was initially held, then released with a court date set for Nov. 20 in Leduc.
On Nov. 5, RCMP charged 29-year-old Edmonton resident Jessica Leigh Wood with sexual interference. Wood was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 13.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
