Man shot by RCMP during altercation in northern Alberta following vehicle chase

Alberta RCMP says an officer was involved in a shooting Monday afternoon near Grande Prairie.

Around 1:32 p.m. on Nov. 10, Mounties received a domestic call for service.

Officers responded and found a related vehicle and tried to pull it over, but it fled, and a pursuit ensued.

During the pursuit, the vehicle reportedly left the road and rolled. The driver then exited the vehicle, at which point an altercation occurred with police and at least one officer fired their service weapon, hitting the man.

Mounties have since contacted Alberta’s police watchdog, ASIRT, and an investigation is ongoing.

RCMP have not confirmed the condition of the man.
