Devon man wanted for sex offences against minor arrested in Edmonton

Alberta RCMP say a 48-year-old man who was wanted for sex offences against a minor was arrested in Edmonton Thursday.

He will be taken before a Justice of the Peace to determine future court appearances.

Devon RCMP say they first received a report against the accused on Oct. 10.

Following an investigation, Darryl Labrecque was charged with sexual interference with a person under the age of 16; invitation to sexual touching under the age of 16; and breach of release conditions.

Labrecque has a lengthy criminal record. Most recently he was charged with sexual assault, sexual contact with a child, sexual counselling of a child, trafficking of a minor, and impersonating a police officer for alleged offences involving a six-year-old boy said to have occurred in the summer of 2024. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 14 for an arraignment.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
