Man in wheelchair knocked down in northwest Edmonton hit and run: police

Police say a 31-year-old man in a wheelchair needed medical treatment after being knocked from his wheelchair in a hit-and-run collision in northwest Edmonton last weekend.

The Edmonton Police Service says the man, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was one of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle at 123 Street and 127 Avenue on the evening of Oct. 25.

The two men were reportedly crossing 123 Street at the north curb of 127 Avenue when a red four-door SUV attempted to turn left from 127 Avenue onto 123 Street, striking them.

Authorities say the driver stopped briefly and spoke to the two men before returning to the vehicle and leaving the scene. The SUV was last seen heading east on 127 Avenue, they say.

The EPS major collisions investigation section (MCIS) is investigating. Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam footage, businesses with CCTV in the area, or any witnesses to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
