Fire at under construction multi-plex in Belgravia neighbourhood under investigation

Fire at an under construction multi-plex home in Belgravia neighbourhood is under investigation.

Fire crews say the blaze at 74 Avenue and 118A Street was reported just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

The fire was brought under control at 12:20 a.m. The fire was officially declared out at 4:45 a.m. on Thursday.  No injuries were reported.

This is the second fire at an under construction home in the Belgravia neighbourhood in three days.

On Sunday night, three homes were damaged by flames in a massive overnight fire near 77 Avenue and 116 Street in the same neighbourhood.

Fire officials say both fires are under investigation.

In a statement to CityNews, Edmonton police confirm the fire that took place on Wednesday night remains under investigation by EFRS at this time. “Police are investigating the fire that took place in the area of 116 Street and 77 Avenue earlier this week. At this time, it is too early to speculate on any connections between the two fires.”
