Fire destroys under-construction house in south central Edmonton

A house and a construction fire happened late Monday and early Tuesday, with one of them caused by a fireworks spark. Our Leo Cruzat reports.

An early morning fire destroyed an under-construction house in south central Edmonton Tuesday.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) says the blaze was reported near 90 Avenue and 98 Street at 12:45 a.m. Fire crews arrived to a fully involved fire at an under-construction home, and a neighbouring unit was affected.

The flames were under control at 2:26 a.m. and no injuries were reported.

As of 10 a.m., fire crews were still on scene to fully extinguish the fire.

EFRS, which is working to determine a cause, says Edmonton Police Service were also notified.
