Edmonton police locate vehicle of interest in duplex fire case linked to missing teen

Police have found a vehicle of interest in the west Edmonton duplex fire investigation that’s linked to the disappearance of Edmonton teen Samuel Bird.

Two days after announcing they were looking for a white cargo-style minivan believed to be connected to the fire, the Edmonton Police Service said Wednesday the vehicle was located.

Authorities did not immediately indicate how – if at all – the vehicle was related to the early Monday morning blaze.

Crews arrived at the duplex near 106 Avenue and 150 Street at 4:56 a.m. The fire was under control at 5:46 a.m. and declared out at 6:08 a.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services investigators and the EPS.

The duplex is the same house where EPS executed a search warrant on Sept. 18. EPS has confirmed to CityNews the warrant was related to Bird’s disappearance.

The 14-year-old was last seen in west Edmonton on June 1, and police have classified his disappearance as suspicious.
