Edmonton police are turning to the public in an effort to try and locate a man believed to be responsible for a collision that killed a 13-year-old boy in the city’s southeast last year.
EPS says Canada-wide warrants have been issued for 41-year-old Abraham Alfonso Chavez, who is wanted on charges of manslaughter, dangerous driving causing death, hit and run causing death, and unlawfully causing bodily harm.
The warrants are in connection to a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a 13-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle at 4 a.m. on May 29, 2024, on 34 Avenue between 48 Street and Mill Woods Road.
In July, 2025, police released video footage from a nearby camera that captured a blue 2017 Mazda sedan driving east on 34 Avenue at 3:50 a.m.
The Mazda was believed to have been the vehicle in question and was later found in August at a repair shop.
Police say Chavez is around 4’9″ and weighs around 150 lbs. He has black hair and a short black goatee.
Additionally, police are looking for potential witnesses to the fatal collision.
If anyone has any information regarding the collision or the whereabouts of Chavez, they are asked to contact investigators at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
