A heavy police presence could be seen at Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School in Sherwood Park Thursday afternoon.
Mounties responded to the school on Emerald Drive after receiving a weapons complaint and the school was put into a lockdown just before 2 p.m.
One person — a 14-year-old boy — was taken into custody, and police note that no injuries have been reported and there is no indication of any further threat.
It is believed that the teen had been showing off what appeared to be a gun. Police confirm that it was seized when the boy was taken into custody.
The RCMP is asking everyone to stay away from the school while their investigation is ongoing.
The lockdown has since been lifted as students were done for the day. Staff are expected to be here supporting kids and going through its violent risk protocol.
