Police say a driver is dead and another sustained life-threatening injuries in a head-on collision on the highway in Sturgeon County early Wednesday morning.
Redwater RCMP say it happened around 5:40 a.m. on Highway 825, just north of Township Road 560 — about 30 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
A 31-year-old man from Fort Saskatchewan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance.
Police say preliminary information from the investigation shows alcohol or drugs were not factors in the collision.
