Fire at Edmonton’s Architectural Clearinghouse deemed suspicious

Edmonton police say the overnight fire at Architectural Clearinghouse near Kingsway Avenue is suspicious and investigation is underway.

Heavy smoke and flames were seen pouring from the warehouse located on 119 Street and Kingsway on Wednesday night. The first call came in at 9:32 p.m., and 10 crews were involved in fighting the blaze.

Edmonton fire crews in a statement to CityNews say the fire was successfully extinguished at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The first call came in at 9:32 p.m., and 10 crews were involved in fighting the blaze.

Thursday afternoon, crews could be seen using backhoes to take down walls, still trying to get the fire under control. The owners of Architectural Clearinghouse, which has been in operation for more than three decades, were devastated.
