Edmonton police are looking for a suspect who is believed to have assaulted a woman last month after promising to drive her home.
The Edmonton Police Service released a composite picture of the sexual assault suspect on Wednesday.
Police say the alleged incident happened on July 2 around 1:30 a.m. after the suspect offered to drive home a woman who was attempting to book an Uber around 113 Street and Jasper Avenue.
After the woman got into the car, police allege the suspect drove her to a residential construction site in the Blatchford neighbourhood and sexually assaulted her before leaving her there.
Edmonton police say the suspect was not an Uber driver and did not identify himself as such.
Investigators believe there may be additional complainants and are asking anyone who may have experienced something similar to come forward.
Police are describing the suspect as 29 years old, with short black hair, well-groomed facial hair, a muscular build, and an “Arabic” accent. He told the woman his name was “Pharaoh” and that he was from Egypt. The suspect drove a black Audi, believed to be the A4 model.
Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by the suspect, or who has information about the suspect’s identity, is asked to contact police.
