9-year-old girl on a skateboard fatally struck by pickup truck in Spruce Grove: RCMP

A small street in Spruce Grove west of Edmonton is in deep shock and mourning after a little girl died after a collision. James Dunn has more.

Police say a nine-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a pickup truck in Spruce Grove on Tuesday morning.

Parkland RCMP believe the girl was sitting on a skateboard rolling off the driveway when she was struck.

She was taken to hospital with critical injuries, where she died.

Mounties say it happened shortly before 9 a.m. on Hartwick Manor.

Police remained on scene for several hours to investigate. That investigation is ongoing.
