Crews from Edmonton called to help battle garage fire in St. Albert 

Flames and thick black smoke were seen billowing from a St. Albert home on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at Kingsmoor Close and appeared to be concentrated in the garage.

St. Albert Fire Services responded to the blaze around 12:20 p.m., noting 16 firefighters, two fire engines, one tower, one rescue, and a platoon chief were at the scene.

Due to high temperatures at the time, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services was called upon for support around 1:15 p.m. and was able to provide an additional 12 firefighters, one pump, one rescue, one tower truck, and a District Chief.

During the firefighting efforts, one firefighter was treated by paramedics for heat exhaustion. St. Albert Fire Services notes that an occupant of the home was also assessed for smoke inhalation, but no one was taken to the hospital.

Damage to neighbouring homes was reportedly stopped, and the fire was declared extinguished around 2:45 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
