Edmonton police say three people have been charged in connection to a pair of stolen vehicle incidents.
EPS says on June 25, officers found a Cadillac Escalade that had been reported stolen, parked at a home near 90 Street and 134 Avenue.
While officers were monitoring the vehicle, two people entered it and drove away from the home. Officers followed and were reportedly led to an alley, where the Escalade met a KIA Sportage, which had also been reported stolen, and had been reportedly used in a robbery involving a firearm earlier in the evening.
Officers, along with a police helicopter and canine unit, continued to monitor both vehicles throughout the night, until they reportedly left Edmonton, at which point RCMP were called to assist.
At some point, the driver of the KIA noticed police, and was seen allegedly discarding a shotgun out of the window before fleeing the KIA into the Escalade.
Police recovered the gun and they allege it had been used in the earlier robbery.
RCMP took three people into custody following a short pursuit when the Cadillac got stuck in a bog near Lile Lake.
Dylan Brazeau, 22, who was allegedly driving the Cadillac, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, three counts of breaching conditions of a release, and failure to comply with probation orders.
Star Lee Rose Breland, 22, has also been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and two counts of breaching conditions of a release.
Police also note that 33-year-old Collin Ray McDonald, who was allegedly driving the KIA, is facing 14 charges, including robbery with a firearm, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and several breaches of conditions.
“Through the combined efforts of several EPS units and the RCMP, investigators were able to identify suspects linked to multiple offences and recover stolen property,” said EPS Staff Sgt. Travis Kerr. “This investigation demonstrates how coordinated police work across agencies can lead to meaningful results and help keep our communities safe.”
