Woman struck by train in south Edmonton: police

Police are investigating after they say an adult woman was hit by a train in south Edmonton Thursday morning.

The victim was sent to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. She remains in hospital in critical condition.

It happened near 51 Avenue NW between 99 Street and Gateway Boulevard.

Traffic was closed in both directions, with drivers asked to find alternate routes. It was reopened to traffic around 10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
