Police believe an Edmonton teacher charged with child sexual exploitation offences has left Canada.
ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit says a warrant has been issued for the teacher at St. Oscar Romero Catholic High School.
Police say he allegedly uploaded child sexual abuse materials using Facebook.
“It is unknown at this time if any students were potentially impacted,” ALERT wrote in a news release.
ICE officers went to the school Tuesday to arrest the suspect, but they could not find him.
Jimmy Buena has been charged with making, accessing, possessing, and transmitting child pornography.
The ongoing investigation began last week following a tip by the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
