Police charge man in homicide of 65-year-old in southwest Edmonton

Police say a 27-year-old man has been charged in the death of a 65-year-old man in southwest Edmonton Wednesday afternoon.

The Edmonton Police Service has identified the victim as Sugeng Pariono. An autopsy Thursday determined he died of blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was homicide.

Officers were first called to 121 Street and 35 Avenue SW for a man acting suspiciously. Once at the scene, police say they found Pariono’s body in a garage.

A suspect who was still at the scene was arrested. Police say the accused and the victim did not know each other.

Oleksii Iskra, 27, has been charged with second-degree murder. The charge has not been tested in court.
