Edmonton police say a 27-year-old woman is dead in what they are calling a homicide on Wednesday morning.

Around 7:20 a.m. on June 11, EPS responded to a report of a weapons complaint at a home near 81 Street and 114 Avenue.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a woman suffering from injuries. Paramedics also responded and took her to a hospital, where she later died.

An autopsy on Thursday morning confirmed the woman was 27-year-old Morgan Cherish Tary Giroux.

It also confirmed that the cause of Groux’s death was due to a stab wound.

Police note that a teen girl was taken into custody at the scene, but she was released.

An investigation is ongoing, and police are not looking for any suspects at this time.
