After the Oilers’ overtime win in Game 1, fans are buzzing, knowing the team is just three wins away from touching the Stanley Cup.
Local businesses are doing what they can to meet the demand for orange and blue items. And this has been the case for United Sport and Cycle, which have been stocking up from jackets to shirts, and even a beer plushie.
And while you see a lot of McDavid’s, Hyman’s, and Nurse’s jerseys, they’re running out of stock for other players.
“So we’ve sold out of some of those, what I call fringe players, you never know how they’re going to do. So the Perry, you know, how is he going to perform the playoffs. Well, he’s done great, and so we sold all of the Perry jerseys,” said Kelly Hodgson, the general manager of United Sport and Cycle.

Some fans are already asking what will they can get if the Oilers win the cup.
“You want to buy your Stanley Cup champions thing the day after they win it,” said Hodgson.
It’s the same story for Totem Outfitters. Co-manager Matt Ollen says they selling out shirt sizes, seeing a playoff boost in their sales.
“We’re going to be keeping track of what things look like in the next couple of weeks and seeing, you know, what we might need to reorder, but we’re pretty well stocked right now,” said Ollen.

And it’s not just sports retailers.
“We thought it would be nice to have a scoop to celebrate the team that we love,” said Ailynn Wong, the co-owner of Yelo’d.
Orange and blue food is taking over a Whyte Ave ice cream shop. They are offering a limited edition Go Oilers orange crush creamicle flavour.

“It was just a fun thing to do, our staff all love the Oilers, and we always have fans coming in at the new shop. We have fans coming in to watch the game at the ice cream shop, so it’s lots of fun,” said Wong.
A sea of orange and blue is expected once again Friday evening, with Game 2 against the Florida Panthers at Rogers Place.
