Ahead of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final here in Edmonton, some Oilers fans have been lining up for six hours in advance, just to watch the game here at the Moss Pit.
“We just got here – so at 12 – wait for six,” said one Oilers fan CityNews spoke to.
One diehard Oilers fan told CityNews the only way to get into the Moss Pit on Oilers game day is to get there early, and he’s put in the hours to prove it.
“On that 1 o’clock game Sunday, we were here at 4 in the morning. Sit in line, a group of us, and that’s what we did, just did time, took breaks,” said the Oilers fan.
It seems like literally everyone and their dog are in the playoff spirit this spring.
Not everyone CityNews spoke to in the Ice District on Wednesday ahead of Game 1 was willing to stand in line for six hours to watch the game on TV outside the arena, but some were willing to shell out big bucks to get inside.
“I’ve been waiting to get Calvin Pickard’s signature since he kept us in the series,” said an Oilers fan.
But it’s not just fans who are ready for game day.
A number of Edmonton businesses are getting into the cup final spirit around Edmonton ahead of game day.
