RCMP investigating hit-and-run involving youth in Spruce Grove

The Alberta RCMP says it is investigating a hit-and-run collision that sent a minor to the hospital in early May.

Mounties from Parkland say the hit-and-run reportedly happened between 4:30 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. on May 4 on Nelson Drive between Meadowpark Gate and Westlake Drive in Spruce Grove.

Through the initial stages of the investigation, police say that a youth was rollerblading through a designated crosswalk when they were hit by the driver of a vehicle, who then fled the scene.

It is believed that the vehicle was a blue SUV, and that the driver was a man with a brown beard, who was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap at the time.

Anyone who may have any information is asked to contact investigators at 825-220-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
