Edmonton police are looking for a hit-and-run driver after a 17-year-old woman was struck in south Edmonton Tuesday morning.

Police say at about 8:30 a.m. the woman was heading westbound in a marked crosswalk on the south side of 28 Avenue, crossing 17 Street, when she was struck by a small black vehicle headed north on 17 Street. The driver briefly stopped but did not remain on scene.

The teen then made her way to school where EMS attended, and she was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

“This collision happened at a fairly busy intersection at a busy time of day, so we’re hoping someone saw something and comes forward,” said Constable Leslie Quinan, with EPS Southeast Division.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has dash camera footage of this collision is asked to contact the EPS.
