By CityNews Staff

Edmonton police say a motorcyclist was killed during a two-vehicle collision Saturday evening on Winterburn Road.

EPS responded to Winterburn Road near Westview Blvd. around 7:12 p.m. on May 24, after receiving a report of a collision.

Reports indicate that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was being ridden north on Winterburn Road, when the driver attempted to pass an Acura left of the centreline, as the Acura was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Westview Blvd.

The motorcycle collided with the Acura and the 26-year-old and the motorcycle were sent into a ditch as a result.

Paramedics responded to the scene and declared the motorcyclist dead.

EPS notes that no one in the Acura was injured during the incident.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing, and police believe that speed may have been a factor in the collision.

If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact police at 780-423-4567.
