Edmonton police have charged four men in death of 20-year-old Rauf Abdu Muzero in Mill Woods in 2020.
Edmonton Police Service officers were called to a townhome complex at 34 Avenue and 58 Street in the early hours of Dec. 9, 2020. They arrived to find Muzero’s body inside the home.
The following day, an autopsy confirmed Muzero’s death was a homicide. Police are now revealing the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Earlier this month, on May 6, warrants were issued for the arrests of Amiir Hussen, 27, Mohammad Omar Ali, 26, Andrew Barnett, 26, and Zakaria Ahmed, 28.
On May 12, Ahmed and Barnett were arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Two days later, Omar Ali was arrested, and warrants were issued for Hussen, who was in police custody in Saskatchewan for an unrelated crime.
Omar Ali and Hussen were charged with manslaughter, unlawful confinement, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, extortion, attempted kidnapping and several firearm offences. Hussen has since been transferred to Edmonton from Saskatchewan.
Edmonton police say they are not looking for any other suspects in connection with Muzero’s homicide.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
