2 charged after traffic stop leads to drug seizure in northwest Edmonton

Two people are facing charges following a traffic stop that took place on May 6, after officers seized more than $32,000 in illicit drugs.

According to Edmonton police, officers were conducting proactive patrol around 118 Avenue and 90 Street in northwest Edmonton, when around noon they spotted a Dodge Ram whose driver appeared to be impaired.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and further investigation led to them discovering illicit drugs. Around 318 grams of fentanyl (approximate value $30,000), 43 tablets of Xanax (approximate value $850), 98 grams of hashish (approximate value $1,044) and 498 ml of GHB (approximate value $250) was found.

The approximate total street value of the drugs seized was over $32,000.

Garett John Dillan George, 40, faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime as well as driving a motor vehicle with no insurance and Jonathon Boyde Cardinal, 43, faces charges of trafficking a controlled substance and proceeds of crime. They both will appear in court on May 14.
