Edmonton billboards by Vegas business draws complaints, anger: Owner

The rivalry between the Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights has gone cross-border. Billboards are showcasing a Vegas sports bar and taunting 0.4 seconds from Game 3.

It was up at 165 billboards across the city. But the mind behind these ads told CityNews, at least one ad company pulled them due to complaints. He says it’s all in good spirits and fun.

“I understand the sentiment, I understand hurt feelings. Even though you guys did this to the Panthers last year in the playoffs. I have a six-year-old. She’s emotional, she gets upset at things. I understand Oilers fans’ feelings in this one,” said Jonathan Fine, the owner of PKWY Tavern Taphouse and Grille.

Game 4 is tonight at Rogers Place, and the Oilers are up 2-1 in the series. So we’ll see if those ads put a fire in the Oilers.
