Edmonton man killed in skydiving accident

A 56-year-old Edmonton man died in a skydiving accident in central Alberta Saturday, Mounties say.

It happened right off Township Road 540 near the community of Onoway, just west of Edmonton, at around 10 a.m.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff says Mounties received reports of a skydiving accident, and upon arrival, found the skydiving instructor dead on the scene.

He says Mounties, Transport Canada, and Occupational Health and Safety are investigating.

No other injuries were reported.

Savinkoff says it appears to be a “tragic accident” with no indications of anything suspicious.
