Large plumes of smoke filled the west Edmonton air Tuesday afternoon because of a brush fire.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services arrived on scene at 186 Street and 104 Avenue — just north of the Anthony Henday — around 12:30 p.m., Edmonton Fire PIO told CityNews in an email.
Firefighters were still working to bring the fire under control by 2 p.m. The Edmonton Police Service was also on the scene.
No nearby structures were threatened by the flames, but police say several businesses were evacuated.
Police have closed 111 Avenue from 184 Street to the Anthony Henday. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and look for alternate routes.
