Man allegedly uses stolen trackhoe to smash up Bonnyville RCMP vehicles

A man who allegedly drove a stolen trackhoe to the Bonnyville RCMP base and smashed up a few police vehicles Saturday was arrested after fleeing on foot.
It happened at around 7 p.m. at the detachment in the northern part of the town, which is a couple of hours northeast of Edmonton.
Mounties say the man dumped several boulders in front of the prisoner bay and then proceeded to the parking lot and damaged five RCMP vehicles before fleeing on foot.

Bonnyville RCMP searched for the man with the help of police dogs and drones, finding him shortly in a forest northwest of the detachment. According to reporting from Lakeland Today, Mounties were still searching at around 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, the suspect is currently in custody and waiting for an interim release hearing.
Police say the suspect can’t be named as no charges have been made.
