Alberta’s police watchdog — The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) — is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon in Edmonton.
EPS says officers responded to 97 Avenue and 163 Street around 12:46 p.m. after receiving a report of a weapons complaint.

Reports indicated that a man entered a yard and pointed a gun at the homeowner before fleeing.
A short time later, officers were able to locate a man matching a description that was provided. At this time, a confrontation occurred and an officer fired their gun.

Officers provided first-aid prior to paramedics arriving and taking the 36-year-old man to a hospital, where he later died.
As a result of the shooting, Edmonton police informed ASIRT, which has begun an investigation.
