Murder charges laid in southeast Edmonton homicide investigation

Police say two men are facing first-degree murder charges in connection with a man’s death in southeast Edmonton earlier this month.

The Edmonton Police Service says Darrell Demchuk, 52, was fatally shot on the night of April 6 near 66 Street and 38 Avenue. He was declared dead at the scene, and an autopsy later determined it was a homicide.

On Sunday, police arrested Jerad Wuttunee, 36, and Brandon Herry, 45, and charged them with murder. Investigators do not believe the two accused knew the victim. The allegations have not been proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing.
