Convicted sex offender with history involving child pornography released in Edmonton

The release of a sexual offender with a history of child pornography has prompted Edmonton police to warn the public.

Robert Edward Ventress, 55, was released from prison, and police have “reasonable grounds to believe he will commit another sexual offence against someone while in the community,” authorities said in a news release on Tuesday.

Police said given Ventress’ criminal history with sexual offences, child pornography, and failing to comply with court-ordered conditions, he poses a risk to the community, especially to children accessed through relationships with adults.

Ventress will be residing in Edmonton, is subject to a court order with conditions, and will be managed by the behavioural assessment unit of the EPS, police said.

Anyone with any information about Ventress’ behavior/conduct while in the community can contact the EPS at 780-423-4567.
