Edmonton firefighters rescue two dogs from the river at Terwillegar dog park

Edmonton firefighters had to rescue two dogs from the North Saskatchewan river Friday morning.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said crews were called to the Terwillegar dog park where two dogs ventured in the river. Five units responded and the firefighters were able to connect both dogs with their owners.
Firefighters say the river is particularly dangerous with unstable ice and riverbanks. They have already responded to over 40 rescues this year.
EFRS recommends you leash your pets near the river during the spring melt. If someone or a pet falls in, you should call 911 immediately and not attempt to rescue yourself.
