Fatal Strathcona County crash: trucker charged with impaired driving

A Spruce Grove man is facing charges in a fatal collision east of Edmonton last year.

A 65-year-old man from Gunn, Alta., was killed in the Sept. 17, 2024, collision involving a truck and car at the intersection of Range Road 214 and Township Road 554 in Strathcona County.

RCMP reportedly said the truck driver, who was injured in the collision, failed to stop at the intersection and hit the victim’s car. Police said in the immediate aftermath of the crash that alcohol was believed to be a factor.

Earlier this month, Kevin Jones, 42, was charged with operation while impaired of motor vehicle causing death and other offences. He is scheduled to appear in court May 28.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
