1 hospitalized after burning vehicle ends up on frozen North Saskatchewan River in southwest Edmonton

Emergency crews were called to the River Ridge Golf Course near Windermere Boulevard SW on Wednesday after a vehicle ended up on fire on the ice of the North Saskatchewan River.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services say crews arrived around 11:30 a.m. to the vehicle fire.

One man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, Edmonton police told CityNews.

Firefighters pulled the torched vehicle from the ice just before 2 p.m.

Police are investigating; they do not believe the incident is criminal in nature.
