Edmonton police identify scammers who stolen $30k from senior

By CityNews Staff

Edmonton police say they’ve identified two suspects who defrauded a local senior of more than $30,000 earlier this year.

EPS says On January 30, the scammers, posing as bank employees, contacted an 85-year-old man and told him his credit cards were being used outside the city.

They instructed him to cut up his credit and debit cards, place them in an envelope, and wait for a bank courier to collect them.

Surveillance footage later captured the two men using the victim’s credit cards, accumulating over $30,000 in charges shortly after the pickup.

Police are still looking for the two men and an investigation is ongoing.
