Alberta senior killed on Saskatchewan highway after getting out of broken-down vehicle: police

Police say an Alberta senior was killed in a highway collision involving three vehicles in southern Saskatchewan Monday night.

RCMP say the 81-year-old man was outside of his broken-down truck when the collision happened on Highway 7, about 11 kilometres west of Kindersley, around 8:55 p.m.

He was declared dead at the scene.

Investigators believe a car collided with the truck, and then a second car collided with the first car.

Mounties say the male driver of the first car and the female driver of the second car were both taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 7 was temporarily closed but has since reopened.

Kindersley RCMP and a collision reconstructionist are investigating.
