Edmonton police investigating shooting at Kingsway/Royal Alex Station

Edmonton police say a man was shot and three people are in custody after a shooting at the Kingsway/Royal Alex Station Monday morning.

Monday morning, Edmonton Transit Services says Metro Line trains are not stopping at the station and that it is temporarily closed due to an “unplanned incident,” which Edmonton police confirmed to CityNews was a shooting.

By 2:30 p.m., the station had been reopened.

Police could be seen at the station, and had it closed off with police tape after responding to the station around 9 a.m. after receiving a report of an assault.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police add three people have since been taken into custody, and an investigation is ongoing.

Trains will continue to run between Health Sciences and NAIT, however, buses will replace trains between Churchill and NAIT until further notice.
