Edmonton police say a 32-year-old former civilian employee of EPS has been charged in connection to an alleged sexual assault against a minor.

EPS says last summer, officers received a report that a 14-year-old boy had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a man he met on Snapchat.

Through a lengthy investigation, police were able to identify the man in question through his username BadLee.

As a result of the investigation, police were able to take 32-year-old Yasin Cetin into custody, and have since charged him with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, luring a child under 16, making child pornography, and distributing child pornography.

Police have also confirmed that Cetin is a former civilian employee of EPS, however, he had resigned on May 31, 2024, which is before the assault was reported.

“Cetin is actively involved in various local and national youth initiatives. Investigators are concerned that other young males may have also been victimized by Cetin. As a result, the EPS is releasing Cetin’s photo to encourage anyone else who may have been victimized to contact police,” said Edmonton police in a statement.

Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by the accused or who witnesses him breach his conditions is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
