2 charged, 1 wanted in connection to northeast Edmonton homicide

Edmonton police say two people have been charged and a third is wanted in connection to the death of 32-year-old Sukhvir Singh at the end of February.

EPS says around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 28, officers responded to a report that a man was found dead near 17 Street and Yellowhead Trail.

Through an investigation, officers believed that the death was suspicious, and the homicide unit took over the investigation.

An autopsy was completed on Wednesday, Mar. 5. During the autopsy, the identity of the man was confirmed at Singh, and it was believed that he was murdered, however, police did note release any more information.

Singh was reportedly last seen alive in the evening hours on Feb. 26, near Gateway Boulevard just south of Whitemud Drive.

Investigators are asking if anyone has any information about Singh’s whereabouts between Feb. 24 and 28, to contact investigators at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Information regarding his whereabouts may be critical for officers in their investigation regarding Singh’s death.

Police also say 29-year-old Manpreet Brar was taken into custody on Mar. 10 and 21-year-old Gursimran Singh was taken into custody on Mar. 13. Both have been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Additionally, a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a third man believed to be involved. Police say 27-year-old Lovepreet Sidhu is wanted for first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Police also note that all three were previously known to the deceased.
