Shootings in Edmonton down ‘significantly’ in February compared to 2024: police

Edmonton police say shootings in February were “significantly lower” compared to the same month in 2024.

EPS says they recorded eight shootings in February 2025, which is down from 14 in 2024.

“This past month, we observed a significant decrease in shootings compared to last year,” said Staff Sgt. Eric Stewart of the EPS Guns and Gangs Section. “We remain unwavering in our dedication to preventing gun violence in Edmonton.”

Of the eight shootings, all were believed to be targeted, six had injuries reported, and four had the potential for an innocent bystander to be harmed.

Police say in February there were five deaths that came from shootings.
