21-year-old dies in Edmonton after being struck by truck

A 21-year-old woman is dead after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a marked crosswalk on Friday night.

At 7:08 p.m., the victim was crossing Hewes Way westbound in the marked crosswalk at 23 Avenue on a green light.

She was struck by a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 48-year-old man who was making a left turn onto Hewes Way from eastbound 23 Avenue.

Police and EMS responded, but the pedestrian was declared dead on scene.

Police say neither speed nor impairment are believed to be factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
