“It’s really nice. It’s nice to see the city come together over something, and kind of have a local hero, I guess. It’s good. It makes you feel like there’s a sense of community here,” said Jordan, an Edmontonian CityNews spoke to.

Chat Sangha, the owner, McDavid’s (the McDonald’s on Calgary Trail) saying, “Oh it’s great bringing the community together, bringing all Canadians together to help celebrate the gold medal, it’s a fantastic feeling.”

The rebrand was originally planned for an Oilers Stanley Cup win in the summer, but that idea was benched when they lost.

The location will don the McDavid name for a week, and all McDonald’s locations in the city are hosting a 97-cent deal on a small order of fries throughout the weekend.
